Referencing styles

Academic disciplines use their own preferred style in which citations and references are supposed to be presented in any academic paper. In the disciplines of theology and religious studies, specific journals use their very own styles, 'output styles'. Be sure to comply with the style choice of a journal, to avoid the risk of paper rejection. Compare the examples below. The first two references are construed according to a general style, the other two according to the norms that are dominant in theology and religious studies.
